Edward Walter Hutchinson [1880]-1972<\/h1>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]In 1972, a collection of notebooks, manuscripts and photo albums belonged to Edward Walter Hutchinson was donated to the Royal Asiatic Society.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”16092″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Hutchinson is the author of\u00a0Adventurers in Siam in the Seventeenth Century<\/em>, published in\u00a0 1940. He is also known for his annotated translation of M\u00e9moire du P\u00e8re de B\u00e8ze, published under the title\u00a01688 Revolution in Siam<\/em>\u00a0in 1968. A majority of Hutchinson\u2019s manuscripts, notes and correspondence is concerned with these books which deal with the Siamese Revolution \u2013 a major upheaval that led to the overthrow of Siamese king Narai in 1688.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”16098″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Hutchinson\u2019s professional life was very much connected to the region of Southeast Asia. He has worked with the Bombay Burma Trading Company in Thailand for more than twenty years. He also served as British Vice-Consul in Saigon, Vietnam before he became British Consul in Chiengmai, Thailand.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”16101″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]In addition to Hutchinson\u2019s published work, he also contributed several articles to the Journal of the Siam Society between 1933 and 1939, and was made an Honorary Member of the Siam Society in 1970.
