Archives<\/h1>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The Society\u2019s archive is an important resource for those seeking to learn more about Asian history and cultures. Our archival holdings incorporate the Society\u2019s own records as well as the collections of some of the most prominent figures and societies within Asian studies.<\/p>\n

The archives can be divided into the following types:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The personal papers<\/span><\/a> of figures involved in the work of the Society or within Asian studies.<\/li>\n
  2. Records from the Society\u2019s own institutional archive<\/span><\/a> as well as material from sister branches<\/span> of the RAS and other organisations.<\/li>\n
  3. Special collections material. This currently includes over 50 individual collections, examples of which include Chinese Documents on Trade Regulations with the English,\u00a0<\/a>Notebooks on India\u00a0<\/a>and Extracts from the Records of Bombay and Surat<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A full listing of all our catalogued collections can be found on the Royal Asiatic Society archive catalogue<\/a> and on Archives Hub<\/a> where over 100 collections are listed. We recommend that you conduct your search on our archive catalogue as it contains up-to-date information about our collections. We will be adding new catalogue records regularly, so please check back for updates.<\/p>\n
