About the Award

The Royal Asiatic Society Medal was instigated in 2000 to replace the Society’s Triennial Gold Medal which was last awarded in 1990.

 

Past Recipients

Past recipients of the award include John Gullick in 2001, Professor Edmund Bosworth in 2003, Professor Christopher Shackle in 2006, Professor Sir Christopher Bayly in 2009, Dr Bridget Allchin and Professor David Bivar in 2014, Professor Robert Hillenbrand and Carole Hillenbrand in 2019, and Robert Irwin in 2023.
